01The gap

A simple booking shouldn't become a conversation marathon.

Easy Bike rents city, hybrid and junior bikes by the day from a shop in Natzaret, near the beach in Valencia, and runs guided tours. Riders are mostly visitors, and they write in Spanish, English, French or Italian.

Every booking was the same thread. Which bike, how many, which days, what time, how tall are you, is the small one for a child, where is the shop. It looked like normal customer service. It was a handoff problem: the shop needed the same handful of details every time, and they arrived one message at a time.

02The cost of friction

Every extra message is another chance to lose the thread.

Fifteen messages, often while the owner was out with a tour group. The rider waits for answers; the owner pieces the request together from a phone, between tours.

A missed request could mean a missed rental.

03The fix

Make the next step obvious: one card, one message.

The rider opens the card, picks a bike or a mix of bikes, the dates and the pickup time, and enters each rider's height so the shop can prep the right frame. The price adds up as they go. One tap opens WhatsApp with the whole request written out, in the rider's language.

On the shop's side there is a confirmation page: paste the request, check it, send back a confirmed ticket as a PDF with the pickup time and the shop's address. No app on either side, no account, no password. A practical tool built around the journey it supports, not a platform loaded with features.

Kickstand

A booking is one part of running a bike rental shop. Behind it sits a whole day of decisions, information and work. Easy Bike is one starting point for a bigger idea: Kickstand, a business management product for bike rental shops that we're developing.

Where are customers getting stuck? What makes the team work harder than it should? We look at the journey and the process behind it, then work out what's actually worth fixing.
